Comment:

 I'm planning to review this at WCUS, and we can discuss further there as
 necessary. If nothing unexpected comes up, we may very well merge it
 there.

 Also adding that this is somewhat interrelated with #42252 in that
 whatever is merged first will cause the other one to require adjustments.
