 Is there an a11y issue there that I'm missing? It sounds like a UX issue
 to me. I think it's still a valid point, but I want to make sure I
 understand the reason.

 I think the tradeoffs that impact the decision would be different if it's
 UX vs UX, rather than UX vs a11y.
