 @jjcomack Thanks for testing.
 I agree with you that the cropped image should keep the main image
 attributes, because rarely you will have cropped images with different alt
 attributes than the main image. If you still need different attribute, you
 can change it from editor.

 Actually there is a ticket for this issue already and I will try to
 provide a patch when I have some more free time #37750
