 If we go that route, this should be implemented in the base
 `WP_Customize_Media_Control` and made optionally available to all media
 controls. There is an existing, distinct ticket for that change (allowing
 media controls to show previously-selected items), and discussion should
 be moved there if we want to go with anything more involved than a quick-
 fix for the current UI.
