 To point out the obvious, what's the issue with just turning "legacy" text
 widgets into what you now call HTML Widgets? The logic of trying to force
 people to use `wpautop` and TinyMCE on widgets which just weren't mean for
 TinyMCE and all of its troublesome filters seems completely bizarre to me.

 Anyone who wants to move HTML widgets over to Text widgets can do so at
 his/her leisure. Nothing breaks. The logic of the widgets remains a lot
 simpler.
