 Hey @melchoyce,

 Sorry for the late reply, I was on vacations in a country with no internet
 :( I should be able to look into this pretty soon. I think we should
 rework the original description to better reflect the issue because I
 don't think this is a regression rather than adding new UI in the
 customizer to deal with unassigned menu when doing theme switch.
