 Knutsp, there are MANY use cases for using WordPress without having
 external email capability! Single page web apps, apps behind firewalls,
 API projects etc. Both SMTP and FTP are sperate services from WordPress,
 and you should be able to opperate without either. [In fact you CAN
 opperate without either, except for this ONE SINGLE SETTING, which is the
 issue].
