Comment:

 Hi @nishajd,

 This max-width is intentionally set by the theme, this is to make the
 editing UI match closer to what the maximum width of the text is in the
 theme.

 I'm closing this as `wotnfix` as the current behaviour is intentional, and
 won't be changing.

 You can create a child theme of twentytwelve to add/remove/alter any of
 the default theme styles.
