 @viajarapie thanks for the update and your time reporting and testing this
 issue.

 It does seem likely that something in the theme/child theme or plugins you
 mentioned is the issue. I was not able to reproduce the issues you
 mentioned with all plugins disabled locally, i tried the Lovecraft theme
 and I think the language settings you mentioned as well. You might want to
 check with your theme developer, maybe they can help you get this working
 correctly with 4.9.

 This seems like an issue specific to your setup, marking to close.
