Comment:

 Tested 39693.4.diff. All seems to be working well, just like in
 [#comment:75 comment 75]. After switching back and forth through several
 themes most widgets still go to appropriate sidebars.

 The quintuple nested loop looks a bit scary, but all arrays are quite
 short so it doesn't slow down.
