 The compat3x plugin for the TinyMCE editor included in Wordpress 4.8.1 is
 outdated and does not work in combination with the included TinyMCE
 version.

 Updating the following files/directories with the ones from the latest
 TinyMCE developer package solves the problem:
 /wp-includes/js/tinymce/tiny_mce_popup.js
 /wp-includes/js/tinymce/utils/*
