 I would like to +1 this as many times as I am allowed. My experience with
 new folks is that this is quite confusing and contrary to expectation,
 particularly when it comes to widgets, and I see increasing numbers of
 people (on wp.com) with text widgets full of placeholder content that they
 don't know how to change because the widget is on single posts only, and
 they only ever open the Customizer from their home pages.
