 Re-testing in Chrome Version 57.0.2987.133 in a stock WordPress 4.7.3
 install: Clicking on an image works properly. The "floating" toolbar and
 "resize handles" are shown, and there aren't any errors in the console.

 Maybe something has changed in Chrome beta. If that's the case, could you
 open a ticket for Chromium. I hope it won't make it into the release.

 Also, good idea to try to reproduce this in the TinyMCE demo:
 https://www.tinymce.com/docs/demo/basic-example/ (you won't see the
 floating toolbar but there should be no errors).
