 In media.php on line 1767:
 https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/4.6.1/src/wp-
 includes/media.php#L1767 there is no way to filter a gallery's caption. A
 filter here would be really helpful to include attachment meta data within
 a gallery's caption.
