 [attachment:29158.left-border.diff] seems fine except for the border on
 the back button, which is distracting given the autofocus (as was noted
 quite a while ago, I believe) and also because the background color
 animates in at a different pace, which looks very strange on hover. Can we
 commit a version that doesn't alter the back button? And then continue on
 into those icon buttons after that.
