Comment:

 Two years on from being reported, and 6-7 years since plugin/theme updates
 have been a standard part of WordPress life, automatic backup of old
 versions of plugins and themes still hasn't had any traction.

 I'm marking this as `maybelater` as if a committer believes in it, we can
 and should do something, but in the meantime this is best left to backup
 plugins instead.
