plugin. So yeah, +1 on going the feature plugin route. I just wish there
was a way to have the plugin auto-install and activate with the activation

don't suppose the feature plugin should be bundled with core either like
Akismet. Should there be a prompt somewhere for users to install the
plugin?
Hello, I'm jumping into the discussion to add a quick comment about the
plugin dependencies : theme authors like me are encouraged by the Theme
Review admins to use the TGM Plugin Activation.
There have been TRT discussions about this

This multi-panel feature proposal is excellent, and I do agree with
@westonruter that it might be a benefit for the final specifications to
iterate on it in a plugin first.
