I think there should be a check put in place to stop users from
registering with none alpha characters, or at least this is what my
annecdotal evidence suggests.
I had a member register with a user name of colon semicolon, for some
reason they thought is was a joke so they put in a smiley face.
That user did not show up in my user list all member view, I was however
able to see them in another view and I asked them to change their name to
something sensible, but I still had issues finding them in the user list,
then later the account broke completely with the user not being able to
log in with the correct password. I ended up having to delete that member
profile and start from scratch.
So I'm concluding that there is a problem with those characters in some
way, or maybe the username was just too short.
