 38922-2 corrects the extra `=` and ends the line with `,` instead of `;`.

 Also keeps the old ajax function, and uses it to retrieve the limit in a
 new GET request so as to preserve hook backwards compatibility with
 context. In order to have context but not have a second GET request the
 REST API could need to have an endpoint that uses the min-chars filter.
