Comment (by helen):

 This ticket has become unwieldy so I'd advise opening new tickets for
 issues moving forward. One thing I noted was that the theme install
 details view now no longer matches - if somebody has an opinion on if it
 should match (I guess it should?) and open a ticket that would be lovely.
