 > One thing I've noticed is that with this patch, and I don't think it's
 specific to this implementation, is that when a post doesn't have a
 template selected (posts OR pages) then the Template dropdown is set to
 blank, instead of the expected `default`.

 Apparently this hasn't been the case in 4.6, so this needs to be fixed as
 well.
