 Thanks for your comment Renato. We feel the same way.

 I still don't understand Andrew @nacin why this rather standard
 configuration (safely tucking the WordPress PHP files and directories away
 out of root) can't be supported properly, instead requiring bizarre
 workarounds with rewrites and fake URLs.

 It would be so much easier to just fix this - @alexander.rohmann offered a
 clear, persuasive and simple solution - rather than continue to just give
 serious multisite users like ourselves and the others commenting on this
 four year old thread a stiff arm every three to four months.

 It feels stubborn and insensitive. Like WordPress is good enough for me
 and good enough for WordPress.org and WordPress.com so just man up and
 manually configure all your servers. Some of us are working with multisite
 on much smaller budgets and much smaller manhours. We need simple
 solutions, not complex clumsy workarounds.
