Comment:

 [attachment:34923.ui.0.diff] contains a first-pass at the UI for this in
 the available menu items panel, including a filter to disable it on a per-
 content-type basis. The next step is to build out the handlers for these
 fields so that a new menu item is created along with a corresponding post
 (in the following step) and added to the menu. Finally, we'll need to show
 information about newly-created posts in the notifications area in #35210.

 We'll also need to make sure that the new item is added to the available
 menu items panel and ideally made searchable there as well, in case users
 want to add it to another menu.

 I'd like for this to go through a progressive review process as each piece
 of the patch is completed, to avoid holding things up at the end since
 timing is expected to be tight. Once the next piece (essentially making
 the "add" button work) is ready, I'll ask for design and accessibility
 review, as the remaining parts after that are largely internals.
