 @bsuneja It was deprecated in WordPress 3.5 almost 4 years ago, because
 the custom nav menus in core do the exact same thing. Since it's
 deprecated, there won't be any enhancements to the links manager, only bug
 fixes.

 That's why this ticket sounds like a ''wontfix'' to me.
