 Thanks for the extra information, @tobi823. I can confirm that I've
 reproduced the issue.

 I _think_ that in this situation, the user's `wp_x_capabilities` usermeta
 entry should be removed, so they're no longer a member of the site, but
 I'll need to look into it a bit more.
