Comment:

 It looks like Feedly has updated their app to handle mixed content errors
 caused by trying to serve non HTTP resources from a `srcset` attribute
 inside their HTTPS pages. As more applications that parse RSS feeds are
 updated to handle `srcset` attributes (which will need to happen
 regardless of what WordPress does), I'm of the opinion that we should
 leave things as they are.

 For the time being, anyone affected by this issue can make use of the code
 snipped in [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/35043#comment:3 comment
 #3] above to disable responsive images in their RSS feeds.

 I'm going to leave this open so we can review the status of things during
 the next release, but punting from the 4.5 milestone.
