 I couldn't agree more with [comment:54 giuseppe.mazzapica] here.
 Basically, backward incompatible changes are no big deal when they are
 transparent. As WordPress doesn't follow the rules of semantic versioning,
 those changes wouldn't be very transparent. Further, WordPress is known
 for a strict focus on backward compatibility in the past.
