Comment:

 What about adding text-overflow where on potential text overflow, ellipses
 are added and the words are cut off?

 Not a fantastic solution but it means that long title are shortened when
 too long.

 I think this word be better than 'break the word' as breaking the word
 half way through could cause confusion, no?
