Comment:

 Adding a link to the .docx file is the expected behavior. WordPress does
 not "import" MS Word documents, or any other files. If you want to create
 a post with the same content, you can open the document, copy it and paste
 it in the editor.

 As Sergey pointed out above, if you want to link to the attachment page
 instead, you can select that from the drop-down on the right in the media
 modal.
