 I would support that. In 5 years, I ran in to it once when a client was
 creating a monster, mega-menu for a fabrics store that listed every fabric
 color and material. But, I'm more concerned about this ticket because it
 has always been cited as the reason for *not* adding an admin hook for
 plugins to add custom meta data.

 I thought that JS was a requirement in the admin?

 But, if we serialized the data into a JSON object, and added the action
 hook, then while perhaps not resolving the issue entirely, we're making it
 better for more people. The proposed change would reduce the issue to non-
 JS admins with huge menus, a seemingly much smaller demographic than is
 currently effected.
