 With apologies for the drive-by comment: is using `in` as the measurement
 unit for the viewports deliberate? I imagine it is and understand the
 semantics - just if we're going to keep it that way, I'd love to see
 inline comments about it so we don't look at it later and wonder why it's
 that way. :)
