 It looks nice, and I can see a tremendous amount of work and effort has
 gone into this. Surely using a shortcode and `the_content` filter would
 make this easier on users and professionals interacting with the sites
 without altering core code like WP_Query?

 Then it's a smaller feature to put into the panel (the shortcode could be
 added to core too).

 If this is something OP is interested in I'm happy to take some time, try
 to implement like other theme features. If not apologies, have a great day
