Comment (by michael.ecklund):
Just throwing my `.02` here... Two of the biggest reasons I enjoy using
WordPress for my website platform of choice is for the simplicity and the
flexibility/customization.
I've been essentially limitless with WordPress so far. Between Custom Post
Types, Custom Taxonomies, Metaboxes (backend -- only), Meta
(user/post/term). Admin pages, Admin notifications, and HOOKS (let's not
forget about hooks!) etc... What CAN'T you customize in WordPress?
Which brings me back to this topic and something that bugs me... It's not
real simple or flexible to customize statuses in WordPress right now. I
would love to see improvement in this area and would most definitely would
make use of it more once improved.
I kind of like where [https://profiles.wordpress.org/johnjamesjacoby
@johnjamesjacoby] was going with his thoughts in
[https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/12706#comment:211 response #211].
I do agree this area needs more thought and structure to better tie-in
multiple different aspects of WordPress but also (if possible) try to keep
it SIMPLE and FLEXIBLE for manipulation/customization as well.
