 I'd tend to agree but from some of the reports up top there it's not
 always used efficiently by MySQL and I would rather perfect not be the
 enemy of better :).

 Sure, I don't see a big difference either way. My reasoning for the
 transient was that on busy sites that have a object cache it would
 probably be faster than doing a separate db request, unless we make it an
 auto-load option (which I personally try to avoid)
