 I wanted to come back and say that after thinking about this over the
 weekend, I'm also in favor of reverting the change.

 This causes quite a big breakage in existing themes, and there's no easy
 way for `singular` as a class name to live in Core without possibly
 creating issues. We could educate existing themers to help them change
 current themes to accommodate the class, but this change doesn't really
 provide enough benefit to justify that effort. Plus, the sooner we take it
 out, the better because fewer new themes will use it.
