 there should be an accordion section that is all the available archives of
 different types.

 For what it's worth, there was discussion about placement back when we
 were refreshing menus in 3.6 about doing a new accordion section for
 "common links" or similar, and maybe simultaneously moving the "home" link
 out of the pages accordion there at the same time (since it's a "custom
 link" in with the pages).
