Comment:

 Lack of reporter feedback and this seems to be invalid. The only way this
 could be reproduced is if you add a plugin that removes the /category/
 from the URL in which case, that plugin should become responsible for
 supporting or educating about conflicts, as this type of collision does
 not occur under a normal core supported behavior.
