Comment:

 For maintenance pages `noindex` is the wrong way. If you run that on your
 homepage, Google would stop indexing your homepage. That's not a good user
 experience.

 That's not what you want. You should send a 503 status header in that
 case, see https://yoast.com/http-503-site-maintenance-seo/.
