 Better version, now 29906-8-comment15.diff. A long shot but it might be
 there.

 I have restored some of the links I'd removed by placing wp_is_mobile
 around them so the desired effect is achieved in both worlds. #comment:23

 I think the eaten touch/click/event has been resolved #comment:23

 I still welcome review and testing.
