 The issue with general updates is that there's nowhere to display the
 update count or a link to updates in the "admin" menu that comes down
 there, so you wouldn't have any clear path to addressing the notification.
 I think that's probably fine as its separate icon for now.

 Other note - currently (in the patch) the "home" icon is used in place of
 the W icon in the admin context, which I think makes sense because that
 links to the front page of the site instead of the dashboard. But, we do
 lose that branding there, so not sure whether that's worth it.
