 I applied the patch, and I don't understand why the width of 300px starts
 changing only from a viewport of 1667px and up?

 On a > 1280px viewport the customizer width already should be 600px to
 work comfortably.

 I would therefore like to propose to use one breakpoint only: 1280px:
 * smaller than 1280px -> Customizer width 300px
 * equal or larger than 1280px -> Customizer width 600px
