 I've always considered `@since` tags useful for managing version
 requirements in dependent plugins & themes.

 Parsed alongside `@uses` (which I know WordPress actively avoids using)
 ensures the call-stack safely works with version requirements. An
 accurately `@since`ed and `@uses`ed project can help some IDE's provide
 warnings about function usages not meeting minimum requirements.
