 I have ideas regarding how to answer that question (primarily regarding
 standardizing how content is stored and the UI for user configuration),
 but I believe discussing them here would be out of scope for this
 particular ticket.

 aren't extensible. Again, though: debating the finer points of that
 decision is outside the scope of this particular ticket.
