Comment:

 I left this open because there's still the issue of taps getting "eaten"
 when another item has been tapped first. This is generally a problem on
 iOS Safari related to things like hover states, but we should take at
 least a few minutes to see if we can figure it out quickly, otherwise open
 a separate ticket for more generalized investigation.
