 @melchoyce @lessbloat i think that's a great idea, but i'd wager that a
 majority of the time, people who are using a static page on front also
 need to select a custom template for it. they will still have to go to the
 page listing, and edit the new page to select the custom home page
 template.

 this doesn't feel like it'd save a ton of time without removing that step
 as well.
