I'm 100% opposed to disabling the button as was originally suggested. It
must always function. But changing the color or adding some other
indication of "unsaved changes" isn't an awful idea.
On the other hand, I tend to agree with @azaozz that it has potential to
be distracting and unclear. Unclear UI changes are usually only worth
implementing if they offer a good new feature. This proposed enhancement
is neither intuitive or so great that's its worth a user having to take
the time to to understand why the button is changing appearance.
That's my $.02 on the matter. The js I shared is about as close as I can
think of making it intuitive without interrupting functionality. But I'm
just not sure it's obvious enough to be worth implementing. Maybe we
should be add some text that says "unsaved changes".
