 We're in the process of adding automagical auto-linking to the code
 reference for known functions, classes, and methods. I've created
 #meta1483 to track that.

 Per the [https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/best-practices/inline-
 documentation-standards/php/#other-descriptions inline documentation
 standards], the only elements we should be "auto-linking" manually with
 inline `@see` tags going forward are hooks, which are not supported by
 phpDoc out of the box.
