 At the moment I'd say: testing, testing, testing. Apply the patch on a
 local install (see [https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/tutorials
 /working-with-patches/#applying-a-patch the handbook] for details how to
 do this) and try to develop some things using this function.
 Does it work as expected or does it break? Is it intuitive, fast? Is the
 inline documentation clear?
