 Use case: Conditional Page Content Display

 For certain types of designs, in particular "single-page" layouts, it is
 common to pull the contents of multiple pages into one landing page while
 at the same time allowing each of the pages to live on their own. Excerpts
 would make it possible to display a custom truncated message on these
 landing pages while a longer message is displayed on the individual pages.
