 My patch rips into the existing classes, but it's just a POC ....

 I have been chatting with @rmccue and @dd32, we should look into the
 viability of things like:
 https://github.com/rmccue/Requests-WPHTTP

 We need a solution for parallel HTTP if we want to encourage people to use
 WP for a web-service driven website, example: a site powered by a REST API
 backend
